Plans Submitted For Houses Near Rural Isle Of Wight Primary School In Arreton

Houses are proposed near a rural Isle of Wight primary school.

Plans have been submitted by local farmers, A E Browns, to build three properties on the corner of one of its greenfields in Arreton.

The site is next door to Arreton Primary School and could see two, three-bed houses and one, two-bed bungalow built on it.

As part of the highway works associated with the development, School Lane could be resurfaced.

It had been suggested that an additional school parking area could be included but parties agreed it was not necessary.

Planning agents, BCM, on behalf of the applicant, said the mix of properties proposed was suitable for the modest site and designed to fit in with the character of the area.

As part of the plans, new hedges could be planted at the front of the properties and surrounding the development.

The planning agents say, in documents submitted to the Isle of Wight Council, there is a need for family housing in the village and surrounding areas, and this development would meet the need.

You can view the application, 23/00435/FUL, on the Isle of Wight Council’s website. Comments can be made until April 25.
