On The Wrox: Primary School Pupils Take Glimpse At Future Selves

Pupils from an Isle of Wight primary school were treated to a jobs fair with a difference by local business people last week.

Friday (24) saw representatives from across the Isle of Wight community visit Wroxall Primary School to talk to the children about their different jobs.

Children came to school dressed as their future selves and talked to visitors as part of the careers fair event within school.

The afternoon was designed to raise children's aspirations about what they might do when they leave school.

Particular focus was paid to the skills and qualities the youngsters will need to grow and develop as they become their future selves.

A spokesperson for Wroxall Primary School said:

"We all thoroughly enjoyed the event which promoted great discussions and sparked interest in a range of careers. We will look forward to repeating it again next year."

The following companies attended the day:

GKN; the Isle of Wight College; RNLI, Wight Search and Rescue; AJ Entertainment; Quay Arts; New Carnival Company; Hampshire and Isle of Wight Police; Tapnell Farm; Stainless Games; Whatever Next Entertainment and Island Vet Care.
