New Date For Cancelled Isle Of Wight Cabinet Meeting

A new date has been set for the all-important Isle of Wight Council Cabinet meeting.

Items on the agenda include the controversial Ryde Interchange scheme, the future of the Floating Bridge, the potential closure of Rookley and Chillerton primary and the Bus Service Improvement Plan.

Yesterday's (Thursday's) meeting was cancelled after a councillor caught COVID-19.

As Isle of Wight Radio previously reported, an unnamed cabinet member received a positive lateral flow test.

Speaking yesterday, John Metcalfe, the council's chief executive, said:

"This decision has not been taken lightly, but with safety of councillors, staff and the public at the forefront of our minds."

The meeting has been rescheduled for Monday, October 25.
