Isle Of Wight Sees Another Rise In Coronavirus Cases

The Isle of Wight has seen another rise in positive coronavirus cases.

According to the latest Public Health England figures released today (Monday), there have been 34 new cases.

Yesterday, 86 were recorded.

There has been a total of 7,464 cases since the pandemic began last year.

The Island’s rolling rate per 100,000 people has risen to 153.1 - but remains well below the overall UK rolling rate of 399.6.

Restrictions have eased on the Isle of Wight and across England on what is so-called Freedom Day

Mask wearing and social distancing is no longer a legal requirement in England.

Wightlink, Red Funnel and Hovertravel are all asking people to still wear masks while on board, however, while some supermarkets also have their own policies.

According to the councillor in charge of Adult Social Care, Karl Love, mandatory vaccines in Isle of Wight care homes are 'on track'.

It's also been announced that clinically vulnerable children and those living with at-risk adults will be offered a COVID-19 vaccine - but most teenagers won't.
