Isle Of Wight Royal Marines Walk Ten Miles To Honour Ex-Servicemen

Former Royal Marines on the Isle of Wight are honouring those who died by walking ten miles to an Isle of Wight War Memorial.

The men will be gathering at Parkhurst Military Cemetery tomorrow (Saturday) to pay their respects to three Royal Marines who are buried there.

They will then make the ten-mile journey to Sandown War Memorial either by foot or bicycle, where they will place crosses with their names on it.

Friends of The Royal Marines and Islanders who would also like to pay their respects are most welcome and coronavirus rules will be adhered to.

They will gather at 9am tomorrow.

Meanwhile, 11 former Royal Marines and ex-servicemen and women on the Isle of Wight are currently taking on a gruelling physical challenge, as exclusively reported.

They are attempting to circumnavigate the world in 80 days and have covered more than 14,000 miles so far.

To achieve the target of 24,911 the team must cover an average distance of 2,185 miles a week.
