Isle Of Wight Council Cabinet Meeting Cancelled After Member Tests Positive

The Isle of Wight Council's cabinet meeting tonight (Thursday) has been cancelled.

According to the local authority, a member of the cabinet tested positive for COVID on a lateral flow test.

Ryde Interchange plans, the floating bridge, bus service improvement plans and the future of Rookley and Chillerton Primary were among items on the agenda to be discussed.

A date for the next meeting is yet to be confirmed.

John Metcalfe, the council's chief executive, said:

"This decision has not been taken lightly, but with safety of councillors, staff and the public at the forefront of our minds."

The meeting will be rescheduled for later in the month (October).
