Isle Of Wight Causes Awarded Grants From Community Fund

Two charitable causes on the Isle of Wight have been awarded grants as part of a community fund set up to support those most affected by the pandemic.

Wessex Cancer Trust which supports Islanders and their families affected by cancer and West Wight Men in Sheds, which supports Islanders who are unemployed or have a medical condition and need that 'boost' to gain confidence and skills have been awarded £400 each.

It is thanks to a £40,000 fund which was set up in March by the Southern co-operative.

It is estimated that, to date, these micro-grants have helped support more 5,500 people and provided more than 6,700 meals in communities.

Thousands of pounds is said to still be available to good causes helping communities affected by the pandemic.

Organisations based near Southern Co-op's stores or funeral homes can apply for grants using their new or existing Neighbourly profiles via www.neighbourly.com/goodcause/ and using the referral code SouthernCoopPartner.
