The Isle of Wight Bus Museum has officially re-opened its re-vamped display area which includes a new video "bus".

On Monday (18) the refurbished display area at the IW Bus and Coach Museum was officially opened by Cllr Jenna Sabine, Deputy Mayor, Ryde Town Council.

It follows several months of work behind the scenes to prepare the new display cabinets and a new video “bus”.

This will allow visitors to view video presentations of the Isle of Wight and related transport subjects.

The work was funded by grants from the Foyle Foundation and the Swire Charitable Trust, substantially improving the quality of the displays of archive materials.

Brian Dicks, the secretary of the board of trustees, said:

“We are immensely grateful to the two organisations for recognising our work. Their respective grant schemes provide vital support for organisations such as ours.”

The Foyle Foundation operates a Small Grants Scheme, designed to support charities registered and operating in the United Kingdom, especially those working at grassroots and local community level.

The Swire Charitable Trust is an independent UK grant-making trust. Since 1975 they have been supporting a wide range of charities that have legitimacy from a heritage perspective as well as the potential to deliver meaningful social and economic benefits.

The IW Bus Museum will be open throughout the school holidays on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, from 10am to 4pm.
