Islanders Urged To Support Isle Of Wight's Wear It Pink Day

People on the Isle of Wight are being encouraged to support this year's Wear it Pink Day.

This Friday (23), we are being asked to wear something pink, bake something or do something pink - at home or at work.

Isle of Wight Radio is proud to be supporting this year’s campaign.

The national event has raised millions for people and families battling the devastating disease over the years.

All money raised on the Island will stay on the Island to support the Breast Cancer Now support group and the Applegate Breast Care Unit at St Mary's Hospital, Newport.

Sarah Tyrrell- Jones, who runs the Isle of Wight's Breast cancer care information and support group, said:

"It's been such a difficult year for so many people and so many charities. We've been forced to cancel all of our fundraisers because of the coronavirus pandemic. But, this disease doesn't stop affecting people just because there is a pandemic on.

"We are urging people to support Wear it Pink Day this Friday!

"People can get involved at work or at home by wearing something pink - or baking something pink - and making any donation they can. Every penny stays on the Island to help Islanders and their families."
