COVID-19: Isle Of Wight Vaccine Figures As Hampshire Exceeds Two Million

More than 67 per cent of eligible Islanders are now fully vaccinated against COVID-19, as the number of doses handed out across Hampshire exceeds two million.

NHS England figures released today (Thursday) show 83,992 Islanders, aged over 16, have had both jabs.

The data, recorded by the National Immunisation Management Service (NIMS), reveals that the Island is 1,000 short of reaching 100,000 residents with at least one dose.

Week to week, the number of people vaccinated on the Island is falling. Another 2,837 jabs have been handed out. The previous week saw 5,399 doses given.

The cumulative number of Island doses now stands at 183,003.

Across Hampshire, 2,068,810 doses of the vaccine had been delivered locally by the week ending June 13.

Islanders aged 70 to 74 are the group best protected. 10,607 people in that age group have now had both does.

Another six cases of the virus were confirmed on the Island yesterday (Wednesday).

The Isle of Wight's rolling rate remains below the national average.
