16-Year-Old Islander Charged Following Overnight Crime Spree

A teenager has been charged with a number of offences - including burglaries at two Isle of Wight garages, and the assault of an emergency worker.

A 16-year-old is accused of a series of incidents overnight last night (Monday). He appeared at the Isle of Wight Magistrates Court today (Tuesday).

The boy has been charged with burgling Ashey Road garage, Ryde and Prices Garage, Newport. He has also been charged with assaulting an emergency worker.

Police say he was also in possession of an offensive weapon and possession of a controlled Class B drug.

Driving with no licence, driving with no insurance and theft from a motor vehicle were also on the teenager's list of charges. 

He has been bailed and is due to appear at the Isle of Wight Youth Court to be sentenced.
